Mukhtar Yerzhanov is the Partner of Grant Thornton in Kazakhstan.

Experience

Mukhtar has an extensive experience in audit, taxation and accounting.

He set up and led one of Big 4 company office in Kazakhstan where he successfully managed large audit projects including the inaugural international audit of National Bank of Kazakhstan. Later he founded a private audit company and served many large clients in the main industry of economy such as KazakhstanCaspyShelf, Halliburton and others.

Mukhtar also has significant academic achievements. A professor and doctor of economics, Mukhtar actively participated in drafting of Kazakh inaugural legislation on accounting and audit. He prepared 13 doctors of sciences and 15 candidates of sciences in accounting, assurance, statistic, finance and banking areas in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Mukhtar Yerzhanov chairs a doctoral dissertations council and is a professor at leading Kazakh universities. In 2005 he led a special educational project in one of Big 4 company and trained specialists of KazMunaiGas.

He is an author of more than 10 textbooks on assurance, accounting and taxation on which students of the country are trained.

Mukhtar is an independent member of the board of directors of Kazkommertsbank, the country's largest commercial bank, where he leads the Committee on appointments and bonuses.
